GN Pan Lid Buyer Guide
Why a Well-Sealed Silicone GN Pan Lid Matters More Than You Think
The visible fit between a silicone gasket and a stainless steel GN pan lid can have a real effect on product appearance, sealing consistency and after-sales confidence.
When buyers choose a GN pan with a silicone lid, material, dimensions and price often receive most of the attention. One detail is easy to overlook: the fit between the silicone gasket and the stainless steel lid.
For distributors and commercial kitchen suppliers, that fit is not cosmetic. It can influence how confidently the lid closes, how consistently it performs during use and whether the product creates avoidable after-sales questions.
The Fit
The problem with poorly fitted silicone lids.
Many silicone GN lids on the market have a noticeable gap between the gasket and the GN pan. Although the lid may appear normal at first glance, poor contact can reduce sealing performance and allow heat and moisture to escape more easily.
Over time, this can become a source of customer complaints and unnecessary after-sales costs. For distributors, the consequence may be product returns, additional explanations or damaged confidence in the product range.
Tooling Improvement
How we improved the fit.
Rather than accepting a standard profile, we continued improving the tooling. After nearly ten rounds of mold modifications and ongoing customer feedback, we optimized the profile of both the stainless steel lid and the silicone gasket.
The goal was a tighter, more consistent fit around the GN pan. As the close-up photo shows, the gasket is designed to sit closely against the rim with very little visible gap.
Manufacturing Method
Molded, not glued.
Another important difference is the manufacturing process. Our silicone gasket is directly molded onto the stainless steel lid rather than attached with adhesive.
For commercial buyers, direct molding supports a cleaner appearance and a more consistent connection between the gasket and the lid.
- Better bonding strength between the silicone gasket and stainless steel lid.
- Cleaner appearance around the full lid profile.
- Improved durability during normal commercial handling and cleaning.
- More consistent sealing performance across the product range.
Commercial Use
Designed for commercial kitchens.
A better-fitting lid can help commercial kitchens maintain food temperature more effectively and reduce unnecessary heat loss during service. It is especially relevant for storage, transport, catering and central kitchen programs where the lid is used repeatedly.
For importers and distributors, a reliable silicone lid can also mean fewer customer complaints and greater confidence in the products they supply. The correct application should always be confirmed with the buyer's intended GN pan size, use conditions and cleaning process.
Next Inspection
See the fit in motion.
Photos make the precision of the fit easier to inspect, and the video above lets buyers see the gasket and rim relationship in motion. For a complete evaluation, compare several samples with the GN pan sizes planned for your program.
Why does silicone gasket fit matter on a GN pan lid?
A close, consistent gasket fit helps the lid sit more securely on the GN pan and reduces gaps through which heat and moisture can escape. It is an important quality point for storage, transport and commercial foodservice programs.
Are silicone GN pan lid gaskets glued on?
Not in this design. The silicone gasket is directly molded onto the stainless steel lid rather than attached with adhesive, supporting cleaner appearance and more consistent bonding.
What should distributors check when buying silicone GN pan lids?
Inspect the visible gap around the gasket, the consistency of the molded silicone, lid flatness, fit with the intended GN pan size, cleaning requirements and sample-to-batch consistency.
